Afton routs Walton on Muller no-hitter

Mirabito keys 9-4 triumph for Sidney

Sophomore Morgan Muller threw her second no-hitter of the season Thursday, striking out nine and walking two in Afton’s 24-0 Midstate Athletic Conference victory over Walton.

The game was stopped after five innings.

Muller’s first no-hitter came in a 13-0 victory over Bainbridge-Guilford on April 13.

Jessie Winans went 4-for-5 with a home run, two doubles and six RBIs. Courtney Lynn and Chelsea Beames each had three hits for the Crimson Knights (5-1, 3-0), who visit Hancock today.

Christine Mirabito hit a three-run double in Sidney’s four-run second inning and finished with four RBIs as the Warriors won a Midstate Athletic Conference road game.

Caitlyn Burr went 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs, who play Saturday at Greene.

Unatego 15, UV 4

Megan Jones and Erika Puffer each hit key triples as Unatego won a Midstate Athletic Conference Division I game on the road.

Jones put the Spartans ahead, 11-4, with a bases-loaded triple in the sixth inning. Puffer started a three-run seventh for Unatego by hitting an RBI-triple with two out. Both finished 2-for-5 for the Spartans, who had 10 hits and committed five errors.

Caree Acre paced Unadilla Valley (eight hits, 10 errors) with an RBI in a 3-for-4 effort. UV (2-7, 0-3) is at Harpursville today.

Roxbury 3, H-T 1

A rare 2-6-2-5 double play in the fifth inning helped Roxbury to a non-league victory over visiting Hunter-Tannersville.

With Roxbury leading, 2-0, in the fifth, Hunter-Tannersville had runners on first and third with none out.

H-T (5-2) attempted a double-steal and Roxbury catcher Allyce Bolger threw to shortstop Nicole Manon, who threw back to Bolger to get the runner at home. The runner on first attempted to go third on the play, but Bolger threw to third baseman Heather Davis for the double play.

The Rockets used a walk, throwing error and groundout to score twice in the second inning. Jessica Shor’s groundout to short scored Dina Perazone with the second run.

Losing pitcher Courtney Brower struck out nine and walked one. Winning pitcher Timea Horvath struck six and walked two in what Roxbury coach Jane Ware called, "the best game of her career."

Heather Davie and Seana Haskin each went 2-for-3 for Roxbury (4-3, 2-2), which is at Jefferson today.

Losing pitcher Chelsea Sams hit a two-run triple in the fourth inning and struck out seven for the Redskins (4-4, 1-1), who play at Canastota today.

Downsville 10, G-MU 8

Macy Davis finished 2-for-3 and sparked a three-run sixth inning as host Downsville rallied for a non-league victory.

Davis walked to lead off the sixth and stole second and third before scoring on a passed ball. Kate Hume followed with a walk and stole second, setting up an RBI-double by Allsion Townsend for a 9-8 lead. Townsend, who took third on a passed ball, scored the final run when Linnea Mattson grounded out.

Townsend also had two hits, as did Gilbertsville-Mount Upton’s Ashley Osborne and Ashley Miles.

Downsville (7-3) is at Stamford today.
