CWPA honors Knox, Huckins
Six named to all-star team for water polo
HARTWICK COLLEGE WATER POLO
Hartwick College sophomore Bronwen Knox received 2006 Collegiate Water Polo Association Northern Division player of the year honors Friday at an awards banquet at the Johnson and Wales Inn.
Alan Huckins received coach of the year honors for the Hawks, who had six All-Conference players.
Junior goalkeeper Olivia Colebourne, junior Keri James and sophomore Kim Sumich joined Knox as first-team all-stars. Sophomore Ellen Sevigny and sophomore Megan Dahl-Smith were second-teamers.
Knox leads the Hawks with a school-record 103 goals this season and ranks second in the nation in scoring. James has 43 goals and a team-high 47 assists, and Sumich has 47 goals and 21 assists.
[an error occurred while processing this directive]Dahl-Smith led the team with 43 kickouts drawn and has 35 goals and 13 assists. Sevigny, a transfer from USC, has 30 goals and 15 assists. Hartwick is 24-9 and will play Harvard at 9 a.m. Saturday in the first round of the CWPA Eastern Championships at Brown University. The 12th-ranked Hawks are seeking their second CWPA title in the last three years.
