OHS’ Greenberg wins Section Four Class B 3,000 steeplechase

Oneonta High’s Tim Greenberg finished first in the Section Four Class B 3,000-meter steeplechase Monday in a time of 10 minutes, 27.5 seconds. Brendan Chapman of Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton finished sixth (11:35.0).

Irene Primmer finished third in the 2,000 steeplechase for Oneonta’s girls (8:24.2).

The meet continues at 4 p.m. Thursday at Oneonta High.

Section Three Tournament
Tom Redding and Joe Horrigan shot 85 and 86, respectively, to lead Cooperstown to a second-place tie in the Section Three Class C Divison II Championships at Beaver Meadows Golf Course in Phoenix.

Cooperstown and Thousand Islands tied at 442. Watertown Immaculate Heart won with 439.

Redding and Horrigan will play in the Section Three State Qualifier at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Seven Oaks Golf Course in Hamilton.

Dylan Thompson’s 46 was the low round of the day and helped Hunter-Tannersville to a two-shot victory over Stamford and Windham in a Delaware League quad-meet.

H-T had 205 strokes, followed by Stamford and Windham with 207. Gilboa had 215.

Previously unbeaten Stamford, which was led by Ryan Moser’s 48, plays at Roxbury on Wednesday, then competes in the Section Four tournament at the Delhi College Golf Course on Thursday.
