Cooperstown softball beats RS

HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL

Staff Report

Winning pitcher Ariel Smith struck out 10 and walked none to lead Cooperstown to a 9-4 non-league softball victory over visiting Richfield Springs on Monday.

For the season, Smith (10-5) has struck out 118 batters and walked 11 in 96 innings.

Cooperstown was limited to two hits, but drew 10 walks off losing pitcher Brittany Burdick.

Kelsey Dachanas scored three runs for the Redskins (10-8), who play host to Tully in a Section Three Class C-1 game today.

Hanna Kirkpatrick also went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI for the Yellowjackets (2-14), who got a six-hitter from winning pitcher Michelle Seeger.

Colleen O’Hara had two hits and a run for Unatego, which also received a six-hitter from losing pitcher Leighann Gage.

Oneonta hosts Owego on Wednesday.
