Tully 2, Cooperstown 0

Tenth-seeded Tully scored an unearned run in the second and another in the fifth en route to a victory in the opening round of the Section Three Class C Tournament on the road.

No. 7 Cooperstown (10-9) had a 10-4 advantage in hits, but left 10 runners on base.

"We hit the ball hard all night," Cooperstown coach Dave Bliss said. "We just couldn’t string enough of them together and left a lot of runners on base. When we didn’t get a hit, we hit it right at them."

The Redskins only struck out three times and eight of nine starters got hits in the game. Losing pitcher Ariel Smith (10-6) struck out seven and walked one.

"It was disappointing," Bliss said. "We outpitched them and outplayed them. We just couldn’t get anyone in. They played good defense."

Kelsey Bachanas had two hits, including a double, for Cooperstown.
