B-G/A track sets 7 school records

Matt Davy won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 1.4 seconds Thursday, setting one of seven school records for Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton during the Section Four Class B Track and Field Championships at Oneonta High.

Davy also anchored the record-setting 1,600 relay team to a victory in 3:31.20. Davy followed Dustin Ross, Chad Cornish and Kenny Pixley in the relay triumph.

Sean Darlin also set a school record with a sixth-place time of 23.5 in the 200 for B-G/A, which earned 36 points to finish sixth in the 13-team boys meet. Darlin finished behind Oneonta’s Mark Johnson (23.1), who placed fourth in the 100 at 11.0.

[an error occurred while processing this directive]Oneonta’s Tim Greenberg, who won the 3,000 steeplechase Monday, placed second in the 3,200 (10:18.80). The Yellowjackets finished ninth with 25 points, 130½ behind Section Four Class B champion Dryden.

B-G/A’s Kati Holowacz set two school records in the 13-team girls meet, placing second in the 800 (2:21.70) and in the 1,500 (4:53.50). The Bears also received school records from Bethany Norris in the 400 hurdles (third, 1:08.20) and from their 1,600 relay team (third, 4:18.90).

Jen Frappier (100, 12.8) and Sam Spalholz (high jump, 5 feet, 2 inches) contributed second-place finishes for B-G/A, which placed fourth with 68 points.

Lauren Payne earned the best Oneonta finish, tying for fourth in the pole vault at 7-6. OHS placed 11th with 16 points, 80 behind winner Dryden.

B-G/A coach Robb Munro said the seeding meeting for the Section Four State Qualifiers, which runs next Thursday at Binghamton Alumni Stadium, is scheduled for today.
