Four women named All-Region in lacrosse
’Wick’s Campbell joins O-State trio; six SUNY Delhi men honored

Three Oneonta State women’s lacrosse players were named to Division III All-Region teams Wednesday.
Senior Jessica Garabedian earned first-team honors, and junior Erin Maybeck and sophomore Alyssa Greenbaum were second-team choices by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Two-year captain Garabedian scored a team-high 52 goals and had seven assists. A two-time All-SUNY Athletic Conference first-teamer, Garabedian finished her four seasons at O-State with 123 goals and 14 assists.
Garabedian also earned Academic All-District 1 first-team honors from ESPN the Magazine.
Maybeck scored 36 goals and had a team-high nine assists. A three-time All-Conference pick, Maybeck has 125 goals and 18 assists in[an error occurred while processing this directive] three seasons at O-State.
Greenbaum, a first-team All-Conference selection, picked up 44 ground balls, had 12 draw controls and caused a team-best 32 turnovers for the Red Dragons (6-11, 4-3 SUNYAC).
’Wick player named All-Region Hartwick College sophomore attack Kelsey Campbell received All-Region accolades from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Campbell, a second-team pick in the Empire Region, led Hartwick with 61 goals and had eight assists for a team-high 69 points. Campbell also led Hartwick (10-9) with 53 draw controls and 56 ground balls.
Men’s Lacrosse Delhi players earn All-Region SUNY Delhi midfielder Jimmy Schmidt earned All-Region III first-team honors in men’s lacrosse.
Five other Broncos John Quigley, Ryan Kavanaugh, Billy Fama, B.J. Miller and Justin Lessard received All-Region honorable mentions.
Schmidt had 31 goals and 19 assists this season for the Broncos (6-7, 4-1 Mountain Valley Conference) and has signed a letter of intent to play for Division II Dowling College next season.
Attackers Quigley (45 goals, 27 assists) and Kavanaugh (9-20) also contributed to Delhi’s conference success, as did midfielders Fama (41-21) and Miller (5-5), and defender Lessard (0-2).
Quigley, Fama, Kavanaugh and defender Mike Smith (1-1) also received All-Mountain Valley Conference honors. Smith is expected to play at Oneonta State next season.
Walton graduate Rory Murphy, an assistant coach who played for Delhi in 2004 and 2005, has signed a letter of intent to play at D-II Lees MacRae College (N.C.).
Wrestling
High marks for Hauptfleisch Franklin native and Delhi graduate Kyle Hauptfleisch received Academic All-District 1 first-team accolades from ESPN The Magazine, Oneonta State announced Wednesday.
Hauptfleisch, who completed his senior wrestling season this past winter, earned his third straight Academic All-District honor. He was a first-teamer as a sophomore and a second-teamer as a junior. Hauptfleisch went 113-40 and earned All-New York State honors during all four of his years at Oneonta.
The district team is selected by sports information directors in each respective district.
