O-State senior wins NCAA track crown
Jackson-Buckner places first in 200 at NCAA D-III Championships
NCAA DIVISION III TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Oneonta State senior Musu Jackson-Buckner won the 200-meter title Saturday at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships at Benedictine University (Ill.).
Jackson-Buckner set a school record in the 200, finishing with the fourth-fastest time in NCAA Division III history at 23.75 seconds. That led to one of six All-American honors for the Red Dragons’ women, who tied for third place in the team standings.
Jackson-Buckner also placed second in the 100, at 11.85 seconds.
In addition to Jackson-Buckner, who won the college’s first NCAA D-III track crown in the 200, O-State received All-Am[an error occurred while processing this directive]erican finishes from graduate student Ashlee Robertson (sixth in the 400, 55.96 seconds); junior Kaitlin O’Sullivan (second in the 800, 2:12.99; third in the 1,500, 4:32.85); and the 400 relay team.
Junior Maureen Verdier, freshman Melissa Kanterman, Robertson and Jackson-Buckner placed third in the 400 relay in a school-record time of 47.05 seconds.
The top eight finishers in each event earned All-American honors.
The Red Dragons finished the meet tied with the City College of New York at 41 points. The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh won the women’s team title with 52 points. Williams College finished second with 42 points.
