Stamford wins Delaware League golf title

Stamford’s Victor Altheim earned medalist honors Tuesday at the Delaware League Golf Championships, shooting a 79 on his home course to lead the Indians to the team title.
Altheim shot a 79 on the par-70 Stamford Golf Club, beating Davenport’s Pat Carrington by three strokes. Stamford teammates Patrick Barnes (91), Justin Rybicky (93) and Josh Rowe (95) rounded out the Indians’ scoring for a total of 358 strokes.
Stamford beat defending champion Hunter-Tannersville by 30 strokes. Windham (410), Roxbury (423) and Davenport (434) also competed.
[an error occurred while processing this directive]"It was tough because they’re not accustomed to walking and playing 18 holes," Stamford assistant coach John Barber said. "The 92-degree heat didn’t help much, either. It really took its toll."
Dylan Thompson shot an 86 to lead H-T. Mike Andryshak paced Roxbury with an 87, and Justin Fillipone led Windham with a 91.
