You Said It!
Track column gives us hope for a better future
I applaud Mr. Rob Centorani’s June 12 column, "Some parents deserve much more than credit." I agree with his reasoning regarding the hard work of parenting and raising "great" kids. I am an eternal optimist at heart and believe we do have hope for the future!
However, before you go pinning that hope on doctors, lawyers and stockbrokers (we all know too well how those professions have fallen off the ethical bandwagon), remember what really counts. Remind your children that it’s not the profession one chooses but the hard work and pride one takes in life choices.
There are many bright, talented young people, and some even compete in sports besides track and field. Mr. Centorani, our future also li[an error occurred while processing this directive]es in the hands of up-and-coming musicians, artists, engineers, nurses, social activists, farmers, plumbers, and, yes, even teachers. And who knows? Many of these kids may be raised by welfare mothers!
Perhaps our taxpayers will get their money’s worth.
