AREA SPORTS BRIEFS Oneonta City tennis lesson registration set

Late registration for the Oneonta City tennis lessons program runs from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. today at tennis courts 4 and 5 in Wilber Park.

Youths ages 5 and older are eligible to participate. Parents and guardians must accompany their children to registration.

Registration forms are available at the Oneonta City Recreation Department, which is located in the Brenner Recreation Center at Neahwa Park.

The program runs from today-Aug. 4 weekday mornings at Wilber Park and Neahwa Park. For more information, call the city recreation office at 607-432-0680 from 8:30 a.m.-noon or 1-4:30 p.m. weekdays.

Headwaters soccer offering summer camps

Youths aged 7-17 can participate in the Headwater Soccer Club’s Team Camps this summer.

The following is a list of the camps:

• Session II is from July 4-7 at Worcester Central School.

O-State to host wrestling camp

United States Olympian Ken Chertow and Chenango Forks graduate Troy Nickerson will be the featured coaches at a wrestling camp hosted by Oneonta State from Tuesday through July 2.

Along with Chertow and Nickerson — a Division I All-American at Cornell University this past winter — Nate Carr (Olympic medalist) and Rubin Prophete (Division I All-American) will also coach.

Cobleskill golf event set for Friday

The 20th annual SUNY Cobleskill Foundation Golf Tournament will start at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Cobleskill Golf and Country Club. Proceeds will benefit the foundation’s student scholarship fund.

Cost is $90 and includes greens fees, cart and dinner, which follows at 6:30 p.m. June 30 at the club. Cost for those who wish to attend the dinner only is $25.

Sponsorship opportunities also are still available for any businesses wishing to contribute to the scholarship funds.

Summer track meet set for July 5

The fifth annual Bronco Track Club and Delsego Roadrunners will host a summer track and field meet at 6 p.m. July 5 at SUNY Delhi.

Entry is free for track clinic participants and Delhi track alumni, and costs $2 for all other athletes. To pre-register, e-mail coachbronco@netzero.com. Registration also will be accepted before the 6 p.m. start July 5.

Unatego boys basketball raffle July 8

The Unatego boys basketball team is holding a limited-ticket car raffle for a new 2006 Toyota Corolla LE or $10,000 cash on July 8 at the Otsego County Fireman’s Convention in Otego.

Ten $100 winners also will be announced. A maximum of 300 tickets will be sold at $100 apiece, and multiple winners are allowed. The raffle will help fund the team’s trip to San Diego in December.

Milford Legion golf tournament set for July 8

The Milford American Legion will host its fifth annual captain-and-crew golf tournament July 8 at Colonial Ridge Golf Course in Laurens.

Entry fee is $44 per person for the event, which has a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Greens fees, carts and extra drawings are included in the entry fee.

Oneonta State volleyball camp starts July 9

The Oneonta State volleyball program will host a girls overnight/commuter camp from July 9-13 for players ages 10-18 (grades 6-12).

Commuter cost is $225 and resident cost is $350. Applications will be accepted until July 2 and can be found at the website http://www.oneonta.edu.

Unadilla AMA Motocross set for July 14-16

The Unadilla AMA Pro Motocross Nationals will run July 14-16 at the Unadilla Valley Sports Center on Route 8, 5 miles north of New Berlin.

Amateur racing is slated for July 14, followed by amateurs, pro qualifying and a celebrity pit bike race July 15. Gates open at 6 a.m. July 16 for the pro national racing main event.

Tickets cost $55 for all three days, $40 for July 15-16 and $30 for July 16 only. Tickets for youths ages 6-12 cost $15 for all three days and $10 for July 15-16. Youths ages 5 and younger will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

Morris basketball tournament set for July 15

The 15th annual Morris Booster Club 3-on-3 tournament starts at 9 a.m. July 15 at Morris Central.

The event features competition at three levels. The elementary tournament is $7 per player and will have two divisions: grades 3-4 and grades 5-6. The high school level costs $10 per player and will be broken down into boys junior high, boys junior varsity, boys varsity (grades 11-12), girls modified-JV and girls high school. The open division is $12 per player and has one division for all ages and another for ages 30-and-older.

Participants can pre-register or register on the day of the tournament, which features three-point shooting and slam dunk contests at noon. Pre-registrations should be mailed to P.O. Box 426, Morris, NY 13808.

The fifth annual Johnathan Dilello Memorial Softball Tournament will run July 15-16 at the Laurens Rec Center and Dino’s. This is a mixed team, double-elimination tournament .

Unadilla to host top motocross riders July 16

The 37th annual FMF Pro Motocross National is July 16 at the Unadilla Valley Sports Complex in New Berlin.

The sport’s top racers such as Ricky Carmichael, Bubba Stewart, Chad Reed and Kevin Windham will compete for the Toyota AMA Motocross Championship.

Booster club golf tournament set for July 22

The Charlotte Valley Booster Club will hold a golf tournament July 22 at the Ouleout Creek Golf Course in Franklin. Tee-off time is 8 a.m.

Motorcycle event runs July 22-23 in Hancock

The sixth round of the Maxxis-FIM World Enduro Championship, an off-road motorcycle racing series, will run from July 22-23 in Hancock.

The Moose U.S. G.P. Enduro will feature world-class riders and follows Round 5, which takes place in Parry Sound, Canada, from July 15-16. The two stops mark the first time the WEC will visit North America.

Two-day tickets cost $20 (18 for American Motorcycle Association members) and includes an all-access wristband that covers parking and entrance to all spectator areas.

O-State basketball camp set for July 24-28

The third annual Red Dragon Summer Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 6-16 runs from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 24-28 at Oneonta State’s Alumni Field House.

Summer soccer camps start July 31

The Oneonta Soccer School, in its 31st year, will run two Red Dragon Soccer Camps in Oneonta this summer. The Dragon Camp (ages 7-14) and the Elite Camp (high school JV and varsity) run July 31-Aug. 4 at the Wright National Soccer Campus.

Oneonta State men’s soccer coach Iain Byrne will direct the camps, which cost $125 per camper. He will be assisted by his coaching staff, along with former and current players.
