UV graduate gets high score

ON CAMPUS

Unadilla Valley graduate Sarah Lazarus earned Academic All-American status in women’s lacrosse for Herkimer County Community College this past spring.

To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must earn a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Freshman Lazarus helped the Generals to a 13-1 record, the NJCAA Region III championship and a berth in the NJCAA Division III semifinals. Lazarus also received All-American honors in cross country and started for Herkimer’s women’s basketball team this past academic year.

Candace Eastman

[an error occurred while processing this directive]Oneonta High graduate Candace Eastman helped Ithaca College’s women’s crew team to a first-place finish at the Eastern College Athletic Conference National Invitational Collegiate Regatta at Worcester, Mass. Eastman paddled from the fifth seat.

Alex Jederlinic

Freshman Jederlinic (Cooperstown) paddled from the third seat for Ithaca College’s men’s freshman novice 8 crew team at the ECAC National Invitational Collegiate Regatta.

The team wrapped up the season with a fifth-place finish.

Afton graduate Kelly helped Mansfield University to a 21-22 record this past spring. A senior shortstop, Kelly started all 43 games and batted .296 with three home runs and 21 RBIs.

The Daily Star named Kelly its softball Player of the Year in 2001 and 2002.

Erin Mason

Schenevus graduate Mason received the Rookie Award from the Wells College softball team this past spring.

Mason batted .300 with three doubles, four RBIs and 10 runs for Wells (0-26).
