Oneonta goes 1-2 at R.I.

Kyle Donnelly struck out 12 and walked none in a two-hitter Tuesday, helping Oneonta Post 259 to a 4-0 Legion baseball victory over host Cranston B.
Lane Potter and A.J. Hermman each finished 2-for-3 for the Green Wave (12-4), who got a pinch-hit homer from Mike Seroka at the start of the sixth inning. Donnelly improved to 3-0 for Oneonta, which returned home from its three-game trip to Rhode Island on Wednesday night.
Earlier Tuesday, Cranston B earned a 5-2 win over Oneonta. Losing pitcher Don Potter (3-1) struck out nine, walked three and allowed nine hits and three earned runs. Donnelly and Jon Wolfanger had two hits apiece for Oneonta.
[an error occurred while processing this directive]The Green Wave opened with a 5-0 loss to Cranston A on Monday. Ryan Pondolfino (3-1) took the loss after yielding two earned runs and five hits in six innings. He struck out two and walked two.
Three Cranston pitchers combined on a four-hitter. Reliever Billy Hopkins, who sent Oneonta down in order in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, struck out four and earned the victory.
Cranston A is the defending Rhode Island State Legion champion, Oneonta coach Mike Jester said Wednesday.
Oneonta is scheduled to compete in a Pennsylvania-based wood bat tournament against Scranton and host Moscow from Friday through Sunday.
