The Daily Star’s last two First Team All-Stars for baseball and softball are listed below.
On Saturday, The Daily Star will announce its Player of the Year in each sport on our website, http://www.thedailystar.com, and in the Weekend Edition of the newspaper. That edition will include stories on the Player and Coach of the Year in each sport, as well as pictures and information on the 20 Daily Star First Team All-Stars.
Daily Star second-teamers and honorable mentions also will be released this weekend, along with results from the 2006 People’s Poll voting.
The Daily Star’s First Team All-Stars are as follows.
BASEBALL

Ryan Laymon, sr. P/SS, Edmeston
Daily Star Baseball Player of the Year in 2005 went 35-for-35 in stolen-base attempts this past season for Section Four Class D runner-up Edmeston (19-4). ... Went 7-3 with a 3.32 ERA and struck out 45 in 44 1/3 innings. ... Batted .467 as leadoff hitter, had 12 doubles and drew 30 walks. ... Class D first-team all-state selection who won 16 consecutive games pitched dating back to freshman year. ... "He loved nothing more than to win," Edmeston coach Mike Clark said. "He led by example and was a constant hustler and gamer."... Plans to play baseball at Division II Mansfield College. DAILY STAR BASEBALL ALL-STAR
Nicole Frank, jr. P, Davenport
Daily Star First Team All-Star for the second straight season after leading Davenport (15-4) to first Delaware League championship since the mid-1980s. ... Struck out nine and walked one in three-hitter as Wildcats dethroned defending champion South Kortright, 5-1. ... Went 13-3 with a 2.52 ERA and 94 strikeouts in 114 innings. ... Batted .379 with 25 RBIs and 22 runs in 19 games. ... Also contributed 14 stolen bases. ... Looking to play softball at Division I Marist after senior year next season. ... "It’s going to be some work," Frank said, "but I can definitely do it."
