Laurens boys top Patriots, 3-1
Downsville earns first win of season

First-half goals from Jesse Campbell and Miguel Short led Laurens boys to a 3-1 Tri-Valley League soccer victory over visiting Cherry Valley-Springfield on Friday.
Campbell scored six minutes into play and Short’s goal came midway through the first half. Greg Conklin scored in the second half to give the Leopards a 3-0 lead.
"We’re using a lot of different guys this year," said Laurens coach Dave Miller, whose team is 4-0-1. "We’re trying to keep things well balanced and getting a lot of guys playing time. This is a good group to do that wi[an error occurred while processing this directive]th, offensively and defensively."
Jason Guernsey scored for the Patriots.
Laurens plays the host school in the final of the Stamford Mayor’s Cup at 8 p.m. Saturday.

Edmeston 7, Milford 3
Four players scored in the first half for the Panthers in their Tri-Valley League victory at home.
Colin Bliss, who also had three assists, Jared Hamm, Matt Cole and Ben Conboy scored before halftime as Edmeston took a 4-1 into intermission.
Dan Turner’s through ball set up Conboy’s goal on a breakaway that gave Edmeston a 4-1 lead 1:41 before halftime.
Hamm and Cole finished with two goals apiece for the Panthers (6-1, 3-0), who play at Schenevus on Monday.
Jordan Tolley, Logan Griffiths and Dominic Green scored for Milford.

Downsville 6, Schenevus 1 Stephen Davis had three goals to lead Downsville to victory in a first-round game of the Margaretville Tournament.
Devin Dunphy, Dustin Keesler and Philip Wren also scored for the Eagles, who play Margaretville in the title game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Schenevus, which received a goal from Shawn Sperbeck and 23 saves from Tim Dresser, play Coleman in the consolation game at 6 p.m.
