"He doesn’t have the greatest shot in the world," Laurens coach Dave Miller said of Coryat, whose goal snapped a 1-1 tie with five minutes to play. "But we always tell the kids to put (the ball) back into danger. It was a nice contribution from him at an important time."

Coryat scored his first varsity goal, Miller said, on an 18-yard shot into the upper-right corner of the net. The play followed a La[an error occurred while processing this directive]urens corner kick that bounced around inside the box before coming out to Coryat.

Carter Bailey gave Laurens (5-0-1) a 1-0 lead two minutes into the second half. Jesse Campbell’s through ball hit Bailey 20 yards out, and he chipped a shot inside the far post.

Stamford tied it at 1 on a penalty kick by Mark Cioccari with 15 minutes left. Cioccari scored into right corner after a Stamford player was tackled in the box.
