Oneonta State named junior women’s soccer player Mary Velan and senior volleyball libero Maegan Eddinger its athletes of the week Monday.

Velan (Stamford) scored three goals to help O-State to a 3-0 week, a 6-1 overall record and a 2-0 mark in the SUNY Athletic Conference. She scored twice in a 3-1 victory at Brockport on Friday, then had the first goal in a 2-1 win at Geneseo on Saturday.

Velan leads the SUNYAC with 15 points, on seven goals and one assist.

Eddinger earned All-Tournament honors at the New Paltz Invitational this past weekend after helping the Red Dragons to a 3-1 finish and an 8-5 overall record.

Eddinger amassed 138 assists and nine aces in five games last week. She had a season-high 47 digs in the Red Dragons’ 3-2 victory over Elmira on Friday, then followed with 41 more in a 3-1 loss to New Paltz on Saturday.

Eddinger has 254 digs this season.
