Hawks men fall to Brown on late goal
Hartwick College allowed a goal to Brown University sophomore defender Rhett Bernstein with 1 minute, 37 seconds left in a 2-1 non-conference road loss Tuesday.
Bernstein tapped in the winner to send Hartwick to a 3-5-1 overall record. Brown moved 5-1.
Bernstein also scored the tying goal in the 57th minute off a header from Brian Joyce.
Reigning Atlantic Soccer Conference Player of the Year Tyler Hemming gave Hartwick a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute. He converted a cross into the box from Craig Potter despite heavy rainfall.
The Hawks open their ASC season on Saturday, when they host Philadelphia University. The time and location are still pending because Hartwick’s Elmore Field is not ready for play.

Hartwick College rallied from an early deficit Tuesday for a non-conference field hockey victory on the road.
Freshman forward Sam Galm scored the winner for the Hawks (2-3, 0-1) when she converted a Jenny Knight penalty corner in the 18th minute.

Goalie Ashley King stopped four shots for Hartwick, which hosts Geneseo on Friday.

Hartwick fell to 1-6 this season with a non-conference road loss.
Starting goalie Ashley Taylor left in the 34th minute with an injury after stopping two shots. Sam Marinelli completed the game and finished with five saves.
Hartwick hosts Alfred in an Empire 8 game on Saturday.
