Caputo’s goal lifts Gilboa
Jessica Caputo’s breakaway goal with 30 minutes left in the first half helped Gilboa to a 1-0 Delaware League girls soccer victory over visiting Roxbury on Wednesday.
Caputo controlled the ball about 25 yards out, took a few dribbles before scoring from 12 yards.
Roxbury (5-3, 2-1), which had a 19-4 advantage in shots, plays Downsville at 5 p.m. Friday at Fleischmanns.

Cooperstown’s Stephen Scrafford finished first, covering West Canada Valley’s 3.1-mile course in 16 minutes, 57 seconds, leading the Redskins to victory over Old Forge, Adirondack, West Canada and Waterville.
Scrafford finished about 10 meters in front of Waterville’s Mike Trembell.
Brian Reis took third in 17:51 for Cooperstown, which is 9-0.
On the girls side, Cooperstown defeated Waterville, Old Forge and West Canada, and lost to Adirondack.
Rebecca Adikes placed eighth for Cooperstown (6-2). She crossed in 22:43.
