Panthers use flurry to defeat G-MU, 4-1
Staff Report
Goals by Anthony Wolcott and Colin Bliss in the final 10 minutes of the first half helped Edmeston to a 4-1 Tri-Valley League boys soccer victory over visiting Gilbertsville-Mount Upton on Tuesday.
Wolcott snapped a 1-all tie with 9:45 left in the first half, curling a direct kick from the right wing inside the far post.
"He bent it around the wall," Edmeston coach Ed Wheeldon said. "It was a very, very nice shot."
The first of Bliss’ two goals made it 3-1 with 1:27 left in the half. Bliss beat two defenders around the end line before scoring inside the far post.
Dave Palmatier also scored for defending Section Four Class D champion Edmeston (8-1, 5-0), which visits Laurens (7-0-1, 5-0) on Thursday.
"They have some kids who can put the ball in the net," Wheeldon said of Laurens, which plays at Edmeston on Monday. "They have good, balanced scoring. It’ll be a tough matchup."
