Brianna Bookhout's goal from inside the right corner of the penalty area with 1 minute, 47 seconds left in the first half snapped a 1-all tie and lifted visiting Schenevus to a 2-1 non-league girls soccer victory over previously unbeaten Davenport on Thursday.

Wildcats coach Ray Preston said 10 of the 20 girls on his roster have injuries. Preston wouldn't specify who is hurt but said his team's injuries are five ankles, three knees, one shin and one thigh.

"That's an awful lot of injuries to have," he said, "but I've always said soccer is a game of injuries."

Preston said if Davenport had a game today, seven of his players could not play, including five starters.

Chelsea Haight gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead, scoring with 23:56 left in the first half. Nicole Frank's free kick set up Haight from the right side of the penalty area. Jessica Bentley tied the score for Schenevus, shooting from the right side of the penalty box with 13:51 left in the first half.

"We had a lot of opportunities to score and didn't do it," said Preston, whose 9-1-1 team plays Worcester at 2 p.m. in the Chic Walshe Tournament at Davenport. "I give our kids an awful lot of credit. The kids who did play, some of them don't play that much and we still had chances."

Alicia Sagendorf made 14 saves for Schenevus, including back-to-back ones in the second half. She stopped a shot by Haight, then got her hand a rebound attempt from close range.

"I remember saying, That was a great save,'" Preston said.
