SUNY Delhi's Matt Conant placed first Friday to lead the Broncos to their fifth straight Mountain Valley Conference cross-country championship at the Delhi College Golf Course.
April Ackermann won the women's race, helping SUNY Cobleskill to the team title.
Conant completed the 3.1-mile course in 22 minutes, 13.2 seconds, beating 36 runners to the finish line.
Ben Jackson (second, 22:35), Pat Nickerson (fourth, 23:08), Eric Stermer (fifth, 23:10) and Stephen McCaffrey (sixth, 23:21) contributed to an 18-point effort for the Broncos, who beat second-place Mohawk Valley by 27 points. All five Delhi runners earned All-Conference honors, which are awarded to the top-seven finishers.
"I've never seen our guys run in conditions this bad," said Delhi coach Bob Backus, whose NJCAA Division III top-ranked men's team won its eighth conference title in the last nine years despite driving rain, wind and sleet and temperatures in the mid-30s.
Ackermann finished first among 23 women with a time of 20:23. Sarah Furman contributed a fourth-place finish (21:54) for the Fighting Tigers, who beat Mohawk Valley, 25-32, for the team title.
Delhi's Gabby Dello (Gilbertsville-Mount Upton) finished seventh (22:27) and earned All-Conference honors for the Broncos.

Delhi athletes of the week
SUNY Delhi named Christina Intartaglia and Matt Conant its athletes of the week. Women's soccer captain Intartaglia had a goal and an assist to lead the Broncos to victories over Tompkins-Cortland CC (2-1) and Genesee (1-0) last week. Delhi is ranked ninth among NJCAA Division III programs, marking the first time the program has broken the top 10.
Cross-country runner Conant finished 38th at the Albany Invitational last weekend. His time of 25 minutes, 56 seconds is the fastest for a Delhi runner over 8,000 meters under 13th-year head coach Bob Backus.
