Marathon Invitational
Leon Nevins of Walton/Downsville earned the highest area finish in the unseeded boys varsity race Saturday at the Marathon Invitational. Nevins placed sixth in 18 minutes, 7 seconds over the 3.1-mile course.
Matt Davy (12th, 18:31) and Casey Mohrein (13th, 18:32) paced Afton to a fifth-place team finish with 153 points. Chenango Valley won the team title with 49 points.
Travis Butts (16th, 18:56) helped Unatego finish 11th in the 13-team event, with 251 points.
Afton’s Stephanie Sherman had the best area finish in the 3.1-mile unseeded girls varsity race. She placed 13th in 22:36.
Unatego will host the Midstate Athletic Conference championships at 4 p.m. Friday.
