Moravia 35, B-G 21

Quarterback Greg Langtry finished 26-for-38 for 224 yards and four touchdowns Friday night to lead Moravia past Bainbridge-Guilford in a Section Four Football Conference non-division season finale.

Willie McGinnis scored on a 17-yard touchdown run with 2 minutes, 40 seconds to play in the first half, giving Bainbridge-Guilford a 21-14 lead. Moravia (4-5) returned the ensuing kickoff 50 yards to the B-G 30 and scored three plays later, when Langtry hit Ben Shields for a 27-yard TD. Zach Hargett’s extra point tied it at 21 with 42 seconds left in the half.

Jeremy Stewart scored the go-ahead points 1:13 into the third quarter, catching a 5-yard TD pass from Langtry.

Shields’ 7-yard TD pass from Langtry capped the scoring with nine seconds to play in the third period.

"We couldn’t stop him," B-G coach Tim Mattingly said of Langtry, who also had a 4-yard TD pass to Hargett in the second quarter, "He had a tremendous game that included probably seven drops. He was pretty impressive.

"Langtry threw the ball all over the place and he was on the money," Mattingly continued. "Defensively, we just couldn’t stop him. No matter what we did, we just couldn’t stay with him."

McGinnis ran for a game-high 105 yards on 14 carries, leading the Bobcats (5-4) to a 276-125 advantage in rushing yards.

"In the first half, neither defense could stop either team," Mattingly said. "It was typical Bainbridge running up-and-down the field, and they threw the ball up-and-down the field. ... I think the turning point was when we returned a kick in the second half and they stripped it, then went into score. We continued to shoot ourselves in the foot after that. I thought we stopped ourselves."

Nate Seymour contributed 94 rushing yards and Chad Cornish had 71 for the Bobcats. Ely Thompson had 91 yards on 15 carries to pace Moravia’s running game.

Six Blue Devils’ receivers had three or more catches, including a game-high eight for 72 yards by Hargett.
