Sectionals washed out

Saturday’s poor weather forced the postponements of five Section Four girls soccer tournament games involving area teams to today.
In Class B, Oneonta High’s Class B quarterfinal at Dryden moved from a 6 p.m. Saturday start to 3:30 p.m. today. OHS (10-7) is seeded fifth and Dryden (13-3) is fourth. At the same time today, No. 6 Lansing (14-1) visits No. 3 Chenango Valley (10-4-1).
Two Class B games went on as scheduled Saturday. Eighth-seeded Elmira Notre Dame upset No. 1 Seton, 2-0, and No. 2 Chenango Forks topped seventh-seeded Susquehanna Valley, 3-1. The Oneonta/Dryden winner advances to a semifinal against Elmira Notre Dame, which opened the tournament with a 6-0 rout of Unatego on Wednesday.
All four Section Four Class D quarterfinals were washed out Saturday and rescheduled for today.
At 2 p.m. today, No. 10 Schenevus (9-5-3) visits co-Delaware League champion Downsville (16-1-2), which is the second seed, and No. 11 Margaretville (11-7-1) meets Tri-Valley League winner and third-seeded Milford (16-1-2) at the Wright National Soccer Campus.
No. 9 Hunter-Tannersville (9-6) travels to co-Delaware League champion and top-seeded Davenport (15-1-2) at 2:15 p.m. today. No. 4 Edmeston (13-4-1) hosts No. 12 Laurens (8-6-2) in the last quarterfinal at 2:30 p.m. today.
Quarterfinal winners advance to the semifinals, slated for 2 p.m. Wednesday at sites to be determined.
Also today, Oneonta volleyball hosts Norwich in a regularly scheduled Section Four Class B first-round match at 6 p.m. The Yellowjackets (11-4) are seeded fourth and the Purple Tornado (1-13) last in the 13-team tournament.
Sites for Tuesday’s sectional boys soccer semifinals involving two area teams are still undetermined. Oneonta meets Watkins Glen in Class B, and Delhi plays Marathon in Class C. Both games start at 2 p.m.[an error occurred while processing this directive]
The Section Four Class D boys semifinals will be played at the Wright National Soccer Campus in Oneonta at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Delaware League champion South Kortright meets Davenport in a rematch of the 2006 crossover final, and Downsville plays Tri-Valley League champion Laurens.
Cooperstown semis set
Cooperstown’s boys and girls soccer teams will play Section Three Class C semifinals Wednesday at Waterville.
The second-seeded Cooperstown boys face third-seeded Faith Heritage at 7 p.m. Last season, the Redskins (16-3) defeated Faith Heritage, 1-0, in a first-round sectional match.
The Redskins’ girls (14-4-2), seeded fourth, play top-seeded Beaver River (18-0-2) at 5 p.m. Defending Section Three champion Cooperstown downed Beaver River, 1-0, last season in a sectional quarterfinal.
