Raiders top Morris in OT, 36-34
Staff Report
With tournament MVP Danielle Conway and starter Terra Moore on the bench in overtime, Gilbertsville-Mount Upton received baskets from Brittney Peet and Kayla Armstrong, and defeated Morris, 36-34, in the title game of the Pat Grasso Tournament at Laurens on Saturday.
Conway and Moore each fouled out in the fourth quarter for G-MU.
Peet’s wing jumper with about a minute left put the Raiders ahead 35-31, but Morris’ Bobbi-Jean Bryden hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 35-34.
Sam Brooks made a free throw with 40 seconds left to make it 36-34 and G-MU held on.
"When Terra and Danielle went out, the other kids stepped up," G-MU coach Jim Johnson said.
Conway and all-tournament selection Bryden shared game-high scoring honors with 21 points apiece.
G-MU (2-0) plays Worcester at 5 p.m. Tuesday in a first-round game of the Edmeston Tournament.
Morris is 1-1.
