O-State swimmers finish first at Potsdam

Oneonta State’s men’s and women’s swimming teams won the two-day North Country Invitational that concluded Saturday at SUNY Potsdam.
The Red Dragons women, behind four first-place finishes from Danielle Ulanowski, compiled 604 points, easily beating runner-up Buffalo State by 144 points.
Ulanowski won the 400-yard backstroke (2 minutes, 18.08 seconds), the 200 IM (2:18.85), the 200 breaststroke (2:39.33) and swam on O-State’s winning 400 medley relay team (4:20.83).
O-State’s men compiled 528 points, eight better than runner-up Buffalo State.
Pete Millspaugh had five first-places for the Red Dragons. He won the 100 backstroke (56.77), the 200 backstroke (2:04.56) and was a member of three winning relay teams _ the 200 free (1:32.85), the 200 medley (1:44.10) and the 400 free (3:24.40).
The Red Dragons will compete in the ECACs Dec. 1-3 at the Nassau County Aquatics Center in Long Island.
Wrestling
O-State Invitational
Senior Dennis Norton’s individual title at 197 pounds helped Oneonta State’s wrestling team finished third in its host tournament.[an error occurred while processing this directive]
The Red Dragons finished with 96 points, one-point behind Cortland State and 16 1/2 behind champion New York University.
Norton won four matches Saturday, including a pin in 1 minute, 29 seconds of the title match. He had two pins on the day.
O-State heavyweight Trevor Hiffa and David Ballard (165 pounds) each finished runner-up in their weight classes.
Josh Wake (Delhi) and Scott Gorman each finished fourth in the 174- and 125-pound weight classes for the Red Dragons, who received a sixth-place finish from Erik Johanson at 125.
Wake’s twin brother, Jason, finished fifth at 157 for Rochester Institute of Technology.
Cross Country
NCAA Div. III Championships
O-State senior Kaitlin O’Sullivan finished 146th out of 279 runners Saturday in the NCAA Division III championships at Wilmington, Ohio.
O’Sullivan completed the 6,000-meter course in 25 minutes, 21 seconds. She became the first O-State runner to compete in nationals since Susan Lee represented the Red Dragons in 1989.
Men’s Basketball
Denison 77, O-State 62
William Heslin scored a team-high 22 points for O-State, which lost the consolation game of the Washington & Lee Tournament at Lexington, Va.
The Red Dragons were outscored, 29-11, from the free throw line.
Eric Bratt scored 17 points and Downsville graduate Kevin Reed had five points and four rebounds for O-State (0-2). Reed went 2-for-10 from the field.
Women’s Basketball
O-State 82, Bennett 48
Six Red Dragons players scored at least eight points in their consolation victory of the Guilford Tournament at Greensboro, N.C.
All-tournament selection Christi Podgorski scored a game-high 15 points and had eight rebounds for the Red Dragons. Milford graduate Shannon Weir had 10 points, three rebounds and three assists for O-State (1-1), which shot 53 percent from the field in taking a 51-18 halftime lead.
O-State’s Rachel Baxter (Milford) had two points and four rebounds.
