Davenport cruises by Milford

Samantha Meyerhoff had 18 points and 14 rebounds Tuesday to lead Davenport to a 55-36 non-league girls basketball rout of host Milford.

Davenport coach Ray Preston improved to 498-135 after he opened his 29th season with a victory.

Amanda Toombs contributed 13 points, including two three-pointers in a 16-2 third quarter for Davenport.

"We made a run at them just before the half, and they came out with a 12-2 run that put it back up to 15 points," Milford coach Jim Weir said. "They had pressure on us and we were pretty unorganized. We turned the ball over a bunch of times in the third quarter _ we had 11 turnovers."

Toombs also grabbed nine rebounds for Davenport, which received seven steals from Nicole Frank.

Chandler Prouty’s 12 points and nine rebounds paced Milford (2-1), which got 10 rebounds and six steals from Corinne Ketzlick.

Milford is at Cooperstown on Friday.

Amie Ballo scored a game-high 19 points to lead visiting Andes to a Delaware League victory.

Beth Little contributed 11 points for the Mountaineers, who shut out the Warriors, 9-0, in the final quarter.

Caitlin Morrison led Windham with eight points and eight rebounds. Cassy Begley contributed eight points and seven rebounds for the Warriors (0-1), who play Worcester at 6 p.m. Thursday in the opening round of the Schenevus Tournament.
