Delhi burns B-G on late 3

Luke Burns’ three-pointer from the right corner with 17 seconds left gave visiting Delhi a one-point lead en route to a 43-39 Midstate Athletic Conference victory over Bainbridge-Guilford on Friday.

The Bulldogs outscored Bainbridge-Guilford, 16-7, in the final quarter.

"Our defense let up a little," said B-G coach Ben Nelson, who was without the services of leading scorer Willie McGinnis. "We worked real hard through three quarters and let up a little. We were tired."

Burns scored 10 points, Riley Warren had nine, and Nate Rockefeller and Patrick O’Connell each scored eight for Delhi.

Ken Pixley had 10 points to lead the Bobcats (1-5), who play Wednesday at Unatego.

Ben Burdick scored 20 points to lead host Oxford (3-3) in the MAC.

Owen Moss had a team-high 20 points, and Kyle Palmer made four three-pointers en route to 12 points for the Spartans.

Steve Locke grabbed 14 rebounds for the Blackhawks, who play Sidney at home Wednesday.

Raffi Perry scored all of his game-high 14 points in the first half, helping host Unadilla Valley to a 39-19 halftime lead in the MAC.

The Storm hit eight three-pointers, including three from Perry and two from Mason Wyman (10 points).

"From deep, we shot pretty well, but from in close we didn’t shoot so well," UV coach Matt Osborne said.

Osborne said the defense of Juston Parks and Wyman on Afton leading scorer Bryant Winans keyed the win. Winans finished with a team-high 12 points.

UV (3-1, 3-0) plays Rome Free Academy in the Sherburne-Earlville Tournament on Saturday.

Ron Alston scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead visiting Milford (5-3, 2-1) in the Tri-Valley League.

Scott Seeley scored a team-high 12 points and limited Cherry Valley-Springfield’s leading scorer, Anthony Brant, to two field goals. Brant scored 35 and 37 points in his previous two games for the Patriots.

Jason Guernsey contributed 12 points for the Patriots.

Logan Griffiths scored eight points for the Wildcats, who play at Stamford on Thursday.

Tyson Gregg scored a game-high 12 points to lead visiting Roxbury in the Delaware League.

Downsville (3-3, 1-2) led, 11-6, in the second quarter, but Roxbury’s pressing defense kept the Eagles to 15 points thereafter.

Ryan Skipper scored 11 points for Roxbury, which plays at Windham on Tuesday.

Richfield Springs lost a 10-point lead with five minutes left as Westmoreland’s Teddy Fedur scored eight of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter of the Center State Conference game.

Westmoreland outscored the Indians, 23-8, in the final quarter.

Dan Bloomfield and Brian Bruce scored 17 and 16 points, respectively, for RS (1-6, 0-2), which plays at Oriskany on Tuesday.

Sherburne-Earlville used a 25-11 run in the second quarter for a CSC road win.

"They hit everything they threw up," Cooperstown coach David Bertram said. "They were making a lot of shots. They were getting layups and hit three three-pointers (in the second quarter)."

The Redskins, led by 12 points apiece from Jimmy Jennings and Jason Conklin, led, 15-10, after one quarter, but trailed, 35-26, at halftime.

"We didn’t play great defense and they did a good job of getting to the basket," said Bertram, whose 5-2 teams plays at Waterville on Tuesday.

Greg Mudge, a 5-foot-9 junior guard, eclipsed 30 points for the third time in four games, scoring 35 in Hunter-Tannersville’s first-round victory in the Stamford Booster Club Tournament.

Mudge hit six three-pointers and also had four steals and four assists.

"He’s shooting it real well right now," H-T coach Chris Glennon said of Mudge, who’s averaged 32 points during the Wildcats’ 3-1 start. "He’s been shooting (threes) from a foot behind the line."

H-T will play Stamford or Gilboa in the championship at 7 p.m. Saturday.
