Men’s Basketball

Cobleskill 73, N. Country 61

Anthony Armstead and Stanley Francois each had double-doubles to lead visiting SUNY-Cobleskill to a non-conference win Saturday.

Armstead finished with a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Fighting Tigers (12-2), who received 17 points and 12 rebounds from Francois. Jason Taylor, who hit three three-pointers, matched Armstead in scoring.

Point guard Harley Fuller had 10 assists and four steals for Cobleskill, which hosts Delhi on Jan. 16.

Ben Walker’s 17 points paced North Country (11-4).

Women’s Basketball

Cobleskill 53, Onondaga 40

Meghan Smida’s game- and college-high 23 points paced Cobleskill to a non-conference home victory Saturday.

Smida, a 5-foot point guard who had four rebounds, received athlete of the week honors from the Fighting Tigers for her efforts.

She went 8-for-9 from the floor _ including a 3-for-3 effort from three-point range _ for Cobleskill (10-3), which hosts Adirondack on Jan. 18.

Kim McMillen contributed 10 rebounds, six points and five steals in the triumph.

Cara Seymour scored 14 points to lead Onondaga (9-2), which entered the game with a scoring average of 80 points.

Cobleskill, which is 4-0 in the Mountain Valley Conference, is ranked 18th among NJCAA Division III programs.
