Track teams second at regionals

Ben Jackson earned two titles Sunday at the NJCAA Region III Indoor Track Championships, winning the mile and the 1,000-meter run to lead SUNY Delhi’s men to a second-place finish at Hudson Valley Community College.
Jackson helped the Broncos to 190 points with a mile finish in 4 minutes, 54.20 seconds and a 2:49.60 in the 1,000. Alfred State won with 225.
Andrew Ruud (pole vault, 10 feet-6.75 inches) and the Broncos 3,200 relay team (8:42.00) also won titles.
SUNY Cobleskill had three winners and placed third with 85 points. Eric Graber (800, 2:05.60), Kevin Amilcar (long jump, 21-6) and Kyle Robinson (weight throw, 47-3.5) won titles for the Fighting Tigers at the five-team championships.
Cobleskill’s women scored 102 points for a second-place finish, 130 behind winner Alfred State. Keisha Doldron won the 400 in 1:09.90 for the Fighting Tigers, who placed first in the distance meldey relay (16:43.80).
Stephania Sarday (600, 1:59.80) and Gabrielle Dello (3,000, 11:44.00) finished second in their respective events for Delhi, which scored 32 points and placed fourth out of five women’s teams.
Both area junior colleges will send athletes to the March 2-3 NJCAA Championships at Texas Tech.
