You Said It!

Readers shouldn’t jump to conclusions

I’d like to comment on past few letters that have suggested that former Gilbertsville-Mount Upton varsity basketball player Patric Mosomillo hasn’t spent the time nor given the effort to improve himself in basketball.

These assumptions are anything but true. I have personally played basketball with Patric during the season and offseason on a regular basis for the past four years. This includes running pick-up games down at the courts in Gilbertsville or at the YMCA in Norwich. I would have to say that he spends as much as or more of his "free time" playing and practicing basketball during the offseason as any of his teammates _ including the starters.

Patric never asked anyone to feel bad for him, he was simply making use of his Constitutional rights.

As for coach Bill Hartman, how is it that you can coach a 6-foot-5 kid such as Patric for three years and not make him "talented" enough to improve your team in a Class D, Tri-Valley League school?

Therefore, I just wanted to suggest to those who don’t know Patric or his willingness to improve himself during the offseason to not make assumptions about him unless you know the facts. Especially if you live an hour away, such as Brett Reed, who knows nothing at all about how long Patric plays throughout the spring and summertime.

_ Jon Marble, Mount Upton
