Athletes of the week
Oneonta State named baseball players Erik Weber (Bainbridge-Guilford) and Brandon Galutz its athletes of the week Monday.
Weber went 2-0 during a spring trip to Florida. In 14 innings, he’s given up six hits and one earned run (0.64 ERA). Weber, who has struck out 11, has held opposing hitters to a .133 average.
Galutz opened the season hitting .542 (13-for-24) for the Red Dragons through the first six games, including four doubles, a homer, 11 runs and nine RBIs. He also has an .833 slugging percentage.
O-State (9-1) will open its home season at noon Saturday against St. John Fisher.
SUNY Cobleskill selected senior baseball player Adam Cernauskus as its athlete of the week Monday.
A right fielder, Cernauskus hit .478 (11-for-23), including a triple, three doubles, four RBIs and three runs during the Fighting Tigers’ spring trip to Arizona.
Cobleskill, which went 0-11 during the trip, hosts to Holyoke (Mass.) at noon March 31.
