Little League has coaching openings
The Oneonta Little League has vacancies for coaches and managers in the minor league division. The division is a non-competitive instructional level that emphasizes teaching the fundamentals of baseball.
The ages in the minor league division are 8-12.

Hartwick to host volleyball league
Hartwick College is hosting a co-ed volleyball league Tuesday nights in Binder PE Center.
The league will open March 26, the only Monday scheduled. All other game nights will be Tuesday through May 15. Entry fee is $200 per team. Trophies will be awarded to the top divisional finishers plus individual championship shirts.

Duke Invitational to run March 27-31
The eighth annual Duke Invitational Basketball Tournament will run March 27-31 at the Oneonta Boys and Girls Club.
Boys and girls teams (maximum of 10 players per team) will compete in the 12-and-under, 13-15 and 16-18 age-groups. Cost is $100 per team. Proceeds will benefit the Boston Hospital Children’s Heart Foundation.
Registration forms are available at the OBGC office. Registration is first-come, first-served, and March 16 is the final day rosters and fees will be accepted.

Stamford to host basketball tourney
The first Stamford student council 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held at 10:30 a.m. March 31 at Stamford Central School.
Registration runs from 9-10 a.m. the day of the event. The entry fee is $50 per team (up to five players are allowed) and includes a T-shirt.
The double-elimination tournament will have six divisions (girls 12-15, boys 12-15, girls 16-18, boys 16-18, women’s open and men’s open). For more information, call Megan Tweedie at 607-652-7301.
Indoor soccer tournament Match 31
The Delaware County Stop-DWI/Walton Booster Club will host its Indoor Soccer Tournament for fourth-to-ninth-grade teams at 8:30 a.m. March 31 at Townsend Grade School.
This is the eighth year the Delaware County Stop-DWI has sponsored the event. Admission is free.
Basketball tourney to be held in April
The upcoming April Ambush three-on-three double-elimination basketball tournament is accepting team registrations.
The event consists of 64 3-to-4 player teams. Cost is $125 per team, and all final four teams will win prizes.
The championship team receives a $1,000 cash prize, and the second-place will earn $500.

O-State to host festival Fridays
The Oneonta State women’s soccer team and Headwaters Soccer Club will hold the PowerAde Indoor/Outdoor soccer and swim festival on four more Fridays.
The festival continues from 5-9 p.m. April 6, May 4 and May 11.
All activities for boys and girls in grades 1-6 will take place at the Chase Physical Education Building. In May, some activities will move to Astro Turf Field.
Participants should bring sneakers, swimsuits and snacks.
Advance registration costs $15. Same-day registration costs $20.

O-State soccer camp starts April 9
The Oneonta State men’s soccer team will host an indoor/outdoor spring soccer camp from April 9-11.
Boys and girls ages 7-15 can choose from two options: Three mornings (9 a.m.-1 p.m.) at $45 per camper or three full days (9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) at $75 per camper.
Morning sessions will be held at O-State, followed by afternoons at the National Soccer Hall of Fame in Oneonta.
All pick-ups and drop-offs will be at O-State’s Alumni Field House. The camp serves as a fundraiser for the men’s soccer team.

Hartwick to hold soccer camp
The Hartwick College men’s soccer team will host a spring mini-camp from April 9-11 for area youths ages 6-14. The camp will run from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and will have technical sessions, indoor and outdoor tournaments and supervised swimming in Moyer Pool.
The camp will cost $65 and all proceeds will go to the "Re-Ignite the ’Wick" campaign.

Baseball series starts in April
The Blue Jays Baseball Club will sponsor an exhibition series near Cooperstown for high school varsity and junior varsity teams from April 28-29 and May 12-13. Teams can play one or two games.
The Blue Jays also will hold three-game summer tournaments for youths ages 13, 14-and-under, 16-and-under, and 18-and-under.

Cobleskill to host summer basketball camps
SUNY Cobleskill will play host to its Fighting Tigers Basketball Camp for the 14th year this summer under athletic director/men’s basketball coach Kevin McCarthy.
The Tiger "Buddies" Camp for children ages 6-10 runs from 9 a.m.-noon June 25-July 6, excluding weekends and the Fourth of July. Pre-registration cost is $110 per child.
The boys day camp (ages 9-16) runs July 9-13, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8:30-11 a.m. Friday.
The girls day camp (ages 9-16) runs July 30-Aug. 3, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Friday.
An additional fee of $10 will be charged to campers who register on the first day.

Softball league is forming
A summer softball league for girls ages 14-and-under is being organized for communities in Otsego and eastern Chenango County. Sanctioned with the National Softball Association, the league would offer girls a chance to play games locally during July and August.
To be eligible, girls must be 14 or younger on Jan. 1, 2007. Basepaths will be 60-feet apart, and the pitching distance will be 40 feet.

Wresting clinic runs Tuesdays
The Red Dragon Wrestling Clinic Series, for youths ages 5-18, runs Tuesdays and Thursdays through April 17 at Oneonta State’s Chase Gymnasium.
The elementary division will wrestle from 6:30-7:30 p.m., followed by the middle/high school division from 7:30-9 p.m.
Cost is $40 per person and includes a T-shirt.

Soccer club begins registration
The Cooperstown Soccer Club has started registration for its spring recreation league.
Forms have been distributed through local schools and also are available at Church and Scott and the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown. Youths in grades K-6 are eligible.

The Southern Tier Youth Football Conference is currently open to any youth programs in the New York/Pennsylvania area that would like to be considered as a potential member for the upcoming season.
