Milford track sweeps G-MU
Staff Report
Dan Baxter won the 110- and 400-meter hurdle races Wednesday in leading Milford to a 60-40 Tri-Valley League boys track and field victory over visiting Gilbertsville-Mount Upton. Baxter won the 110 hurdles in 16.78 seconds and the 400 hurdles in 1:00.37.
Ron Alston placed first in the 800 (2:18.28) and the 1,600 (4:55.03), and Tucker Aborn won the shot put (36 feet, 2 inches) and the discus (85-3) for the Wildcats.
Brenna Campbell won the 400 (1:10.19) and the 800 (2:56.2), leading Milford’s girls to a 68-29 win. Campbell also ran a leg on Milford’s winning 3,200 relay team.

Scott VanDerkrake won three events, including a 5-foot-8 finish in the high jump, leading Cherry Valley-Springfield to a 122-9 Tri-Valley League victory over Morris.
Heather Titus won three events for the Patriots’ girls, who beat Morris, 99-32. Titus won the 100 (14.1), the 100 hurdles (17.5) and the 400 hurdles (1:17.7). Teammate Laura Kroon won the 400 in 1:06.9.
Both teams are scheduled to compete in Friday’s Tri-Valley League Relays.

Will Grunenthal earned medalist honors with a 6-over-par 40 to lead Windham to a Delaware League victory over Davenport and Jefferson.
Windham finished with 189 strokes, nine ahead of Davenport. Jefferson finished with 220.
Justin Fillipone contributed a 42 for the winners. Buddy Adam’s 44 paced Davenport.

Postponements
Several events moved
Wednesday’s steady rainfall resulted in the postponements of 23 high school sports events in The Daily Star’s circulation area.
All nine local high school baseball games scheduled for Wednesday were washed out. The following were rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. today: Downsville at Morris; Milford at Worcester; Cherry Valley-Springfield at Schenevus; Oneonta High at Susquehanna Valley; and Richfield Springs at West Canada Valley.
Bainbridge-Guilford’s game at Oxford moved to 4:30 p.m. Friday, and the Canastota at Cooperstown will be made up at 4:30 p.m. May 17.
Hunter-Tannersville at Roxbury and Walton at Unatego have not been rescheduled.
Six local softball games were rained out as well. Richfield Springs at West Canada Valley and Milford at Worcester were moved to 4:30 p.m. today. OHS at Susquehanna Valley will be played at 4:30 p.m. May 3, Bainbridge-Guilford at Oxford is set for 4:30 p.m. May 8, and Canastota at Cooperstown has been rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. May 17. There is no new date for Walton at Unatego.
In golf, Gilboa, Hunter-Tannersville and Stamford at Roxbury has not been rescheduled. Walton at Laurens was moved to 4:15 p.m. May 4.
Two tennis matches were moved as Greene will visit Walton at 4:15 p.m. May 1, and Oneonta will travel to Chenango Forks for a meeting at 4:30 p.m. May 9.
In track, Oxford and Unadilla Valley’s tri-meet at Greene was rescheduled for 4:30 p.m. today, along with the Franklin and Schenevus/Worcester tri-meet at Edmeston. Deposit, Hancock, Harpursville and Walton will visit Delhi at a time and date to be announced.
