Oneonta State senior Maureen Verdier advanced to Saturday’s final in the 400-meter hurdles with a preliminary time of 1 minute, 2.01 seconds Thursday during the opening day of the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Verdier finished second in her heat and seventh overall. The top nine advanced to Saturday’s final.
Sophomore Joe Reed broke his school record in the 200 on Thursday, finishing fifth in his heat and 12th overall in 21.35 seconds. Reed set the previous record of 21.52 in Oneonta on May 5. Reed also fell short of qualifying for Saturday’s finals in the 100, failing to earn a top-nine spot in Friday’s semifinals.
Also Thursday, Reed, freshman Fred Romer and seniors Adam Remillard (Oneonta High) and Eric Theiss finished fourth in their heat of the 1,600 relay (3:18.11). The quartet missed Saturday’s final by .11 seconds.
