B-G/A wrestler gets best of ex-mate in victory
AFTON — A year ago, Tyler Mumbulo and J.P. O'Connor worked together every day in practice as teammates on Oxford's wrestling team. On Wednesday night, they met as adversaries. Mumbulo's 5-1 victory over O'Connor at 103 pounds helped his new team, Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton, to a 36-22 victory over the Blackhawks. "We're best friends," said Mumbulo, who is 2-0 against O'Connor this season. "We were practice partners, so it was hard."


Unatego defeats Walton
Aaron Brunner led five double-digit scorers for the visiting Unatego boys basketball team on Wednesday, scoring 18 points in the Spartans' 75-63 victory over Walton in the Midstate Athletic Conference.


O-State falls short against Ithaca
Ithaca College won four of the first five matches Wednesday night en route to a 21-15 non-conference dual-meet victory over host Oneonta State at Chase Gymnasium.

Oneonta State cross country coach Matt LoPiccolo ended the year with bang on Monday, winning the fourth annual First Night Frostbite 5K in Oneonta.


Milford's Ward earns MVP
Milford's Joe Ward was named MVP of last weekend's Edmeston Tournament. Ward scored 15 points in the Wildcats' 54-32 victory over Unadilla Valley in Friday's final. He had a team-high 15 points in Milford's 58-53 victory over Mount Markham in Thursday's first round.
