I was only about knee-high to a grasshopper when Bill Naatz took me trout fishing on the Otego Creek for the first time. Gosh, that was about a half-century ago. As we walked along the farmer's meadow near the brook, we paused for a minute. "Let me show you something," he said. He took my hand and with a light tug and a shake, he showed me what it would feel like when a trout hit my bait. "That's a fisherman's handshake," he explained.
