The Greene baseball team scored a run in the top of the seventh to force a 2-2 tie with Bainbridge-Guilford in a Midstate Athletic Conference opener Tuesday. B-G coach Steve Rice said the game was called because of darkness and most likely won't be continued.

Oneonta State baseball walked off with a victory in the first game of a SUNY Athletic Conference double-header Monday, then felt the wrath of visiting Brockport in Game Two. Junior Brent Tortarella capped a four-hit performance in the opener with a homer to lead off the 10th inning, giving the Red Dragons a 3-2 victory.
Lape in driver's seat at Fonda
The dirt on Fonda Speedway is that 2003 modified points champion Dave Lape will return to the "Track of Champions" this season. Track promoter Ric Lucia said he considered dropping the DIRT banner in 2004, but it will stick for at least one more season.

Ignorance is bliss for the Afton girls basketball team. With complete disregard for its No. 4 seeding in the Section Four Class D Tournament, the Crimson Knights rode back-to-back upsets to win their first sectional championship since 1988 last Saturday at the Broome County Arena.
